A Gospel Music Reporter for Juniques Gospel Musical Review (JGMR) is responsible for discovering, documenting, and sharing the stories, sounds, and cultural expressions of gospel music across Arizona and the nation. This role strengthens the connection between gospel artists and gospel music enthusiasts, while supporting JGMR’s mission to democratize access, elevate diverse voices, and build a multicultural gospel ecosystem.

Strong interviewing skills with artists, choirs, musicians, and community leaders
Ability to write clear, engaging, culturally sensitive stories
Confident verbal communication for on-air segments, conference calls, and live events
Ability to translate industry language into simple, accessible terms for enthusiasts
Ability to identify emerging gospel artists and trends
Skill in gathering accurate information from artists, events, and industry sources
Ability to verify facts and maintain journalistic integrity
Understanding of gospel history, genres, and multicultural expressions
Basic audio/video recording for interviews and spotlights
Ability to create short-form content for social media
Familiarity with digital publishing tools (blogs, newsletters, platforms)
Understanding of how to optimize content for engagement
Knowledge of traditional, contemporary, multicultural, and international gospel styles
Awareness of influential artists, choirs, and movements
Understanding of gospel’s spiritual, cultural, and community significance
Basic understanding of how independent gospel artists operate
Familiarity with showcases, radio, streaming, and promotion channels
Awareness of challenges gospel artists face (exposure, resources, access)
Ability to build trust with artists and ministries
Respectful, professional, and culturally aware communication
Ability to highlight artists’ stories with accuracy and honor
Ability to create content that resonates with gospel music lovers
