The Gospel Music Reporter is a frontline storyteller and culture carrier for JGMR.
This role involves discovering gospel artists, attending events, conducting interviews, and creating engaging content that connects gospel music enthusiasts with the artists, ministries, and cultural expressions shaping today’s gospel landscape.
You will help build a vibrant, inclusive gospel ecosystem by capturing stories, testimonies, and creative journeys that inspire and uplift.
Conduct interviews with gospel artists, choirs, musicians, and community leaders
Write clear, engaging stories, spotlights, and event summaries
Capture photos, audio, or video clips when appropriate
Attend gospel events (virtual or in-person) to gather content
Submit weekly or monthly reports for publication
Represent JGMR during conference calls, showcases, and community programs
Engage gospel music enthusiasts through questions, polls, and interactive content
Highlight multicultural gospel expressions with respect and accuracy
Identify emerging artists, trends, and stories worth covering
Maintain awareness of local and national gospel activity
Verify facts, quotes, and details to ensure accuracy
Assist with social media content creation
Provide short clips, quotes, or highlights for digital platforms
Support JGMR’s partnership programming (e.g., All Nations TV features)
Strong interviewing ability
Clear, culturally sensitive writing
Confident verbal communication for calls or live segments
Ability to gather accurate information
Understanding of gospel music culture and history
Ability to translate industry language into simple, accessible terms
Basic audio/video recording
Familiarity with social media platforms
Ability to create short-form content
Respect for diverse gospel traditions
Ability to build trust with artists and ministries
Sensitivity to multicultural expressions and spiritual contexts
Experience in journalism, media, or communications
Photography or videography skills
Social media management experience
Bilingual or multilingual communication
Knowledge of music production or artist development
Passion for gospel music and cultural storytelling
Reliable, consistent, and mission-driven

Comfortable engaging with diverse communities
Strong sense of integrity and professionalism
2–5 hours per week (flexible)
Occasional weekend or evening events
Monthly team meetings or training sessions
Become a recognized voice in the gospel music community
Build relationships with artists, ministries, and media partners
Gain experience in journalism, interviewing, and digital media
Receive training, mentorship, and certification through JGMR
Contribute to a statewide and national gospel movement
