Self Portraits

In SPHE we explored what makes each of us unique. We created self-portraits and wrote a few facts about ourselves to help our classmates get to know us better. 

Yayoi Kusama - Queen of the Polka Dot

Yayoi Kusama is a famous Japanese artist known for her love of polka dots. She has created many different types of art including paintings, sculptures and entire rooms covered in dots. Kusama’s inspiration came from the flowers her parents grew in Japan—when she looked at them she imagined the petals as fields of colourful dots. Pumpkins are another of her favourite subjects and appear often in her artwork. Inspired by Kusama, we designed our own polka dot pumpkins by drawing them and adding printed dots to decorate them.
