Curriculum Objective - Develop the concept of justice, responsibility and empathy through a discussion of issues such as “Why share?”, “Why be sorry?”, “Why be kind to each other?
Start by discussing with your child it means to be kind. Kindness can mean many different things. Sometimes, it is doing something nice for someone else. Sometimes, it is treating someone the way they want to be treated in the moment. Other times, it is doing our part to clean up and take care of the environment. Kindness is even about being loving and thoughtful to ourselves.
Encourage your child to come up with a list of ways to be kind.
Your child migh come up with lots of different acts of kindness, from opening the door for someone else to helping mammy or daddy at home. What’s most important is that your child notice we can show kindness in big and small ways every single day..
Here is a choice board that your child might like to complete over the coming weeks.
Vesak, also known as Wesak, Buddha Day or Buddha Burmina, is the most important day in the Buddhist calendar. Celebrated on the full moon in May, Vesak celebrates the birth of Buddha, as well as his enlightenment and death. It is widely celebrated in Asia and in many places is an official public holiday. Vesak will next be celebrated on 7th May 2020.
Listen to this song about Vesak and how it is celebrated.

Oak Tree
This tree might be hard to recognise in Springtime without its leaves. The Oak tree is sometimes called the 'King of Trees' in Ireland because it is so big. It grows from a tiny acorn.

Have you ever seen a robin in your garden? Robins like to live in gardens in the winter. It's ok to feed them when they come close to the house because they are usually hungry. In Spring they build nests. You may hear a Robin singing. This is the male bird. This is what it sounds like.
Earth Worms
Worms are very important creatures - they eat our garden waste and make the soil better for growing. They are also food for birds and hedgehogs and lots of other creatures.
Bee
You may not see a Bee yet, as the Queen Bee only starts to lay eggs in April of May. Bees are very important creatures, they help our plants grow.
Activity: Plant some flower seeds in your garden to help the bees.
