Sentinel explores the dual nature of love: its capacity for both tenderness and fierce protection.

At the heart of the composition, a cygnet rests in complete vulnerability, sheltered within the embrace of its parent's wings. The young bird sleeps unaware of the world beyond its refuge, embodying innocence, trust, and dependence. In contrast, the swan's unwavering gaze remains fixed outward. Alert and unyielding, it stands as a guardian between the fragile life it protects and the uncertainties that surround it.

Created with pencil and archival ink pen on canvas sheet, the work is built through thousands of individual marks, each line contributing to a structure that appears soft and delicate yet possesses immense strength. The intricate feathered forms become both sanctuary and armour, transforming the swan's body into a living fortress.

The gold leaf element serves as a symbol of what is most precious. Gold has long represented permanence and reverence; here it honours the instinct to defend, nurture, and preserve.
