Bubici is a small Italian farm that ventured into sauce production in 2023, bringing their homegrown tomatoes to life as flavourful products. I developed photorealistic renders to capture the essence of their sauces and enhance their digital branding.
A central challenge was crafting materials that enhanced the sauces' rich textures and appetizing appeal.
To achieve this, I utilized subsurface scattering to bring out the natural translucency of the tomatoes, making them feel more lifelike.
Colour variations were introduced using a randomized material system, allowing the tomatoes to display a natural spectrum of hues—from vibrant orange to deep red—representing the diverse range of flavours.
I designed procedural material nodes in Blender for each sauce flavour, ensuring both efficiency and realistic variations.
These nodes incorporated noise textures to simulate ingredients like oregano and thyme, along with subtle colour adjustments to emphasize the unique taste of each sauce.
For example, Sugo alle Olive featured a slight green tint, visually complementing its distinct flavour.
The labels were added in Photoshop as smart objects, offering versatility for the Graphic Design team. Multiple render passes were created to emphasize the label’s textures, highlighting the contrast between matte and glossy finishes. Using smart objects also ensured colour consistency across the designs, reinforcing the brand’s visual identity.
