SLO A:

The first SLO that I want to begin with is SLO A. Rhetorical situation and Genre where I composed my review based on the reviews chapter that was shown to us while in class. I tried to structure my work by introducing myself in a style to where it was welcoming and to exciting. I say this because many professional reviews tend to lack personality and so when a nonprofessional does a review for something in specific, then they are more likely to be trusted than that professional. For example, it is well known in the movie genre that people can not fully trust the reviews that Rotten Tomatoes displays to the public because they are very biased and simply untrustworthy. That is why I chose this medium so that I can write a in-depth review about a movie series that people can lean on to and trust my word for it. That accounts to the blog medium that I chose to introduce my review in because on a blog, it is all about yourself and I can assure you I placed a lot of personality and uniqueness onto my blog.

SLO B:

Moving onward into Rhetorical situation B. Writing as a social act I carefully thought about my audience, and I concluded it to be for a younger audience like me. I know a lot of people that have the same ideas and hobbies as me and love to critique movies and it is surprising to see how many people actually are very passionate critiquers. So, I wanted to give the audience an honest and insightful idea about what many of us might have felt about the new Scream 5 movie but also about the whole sequels in general. I know that horror fans deserved more out of the latest movie, so I wanted the audience to feel as if their anger for the movie was being heard. Lastly, I felt like I reached a local level community because not everyone will agree with what I have to say and also considering that some people don’t enjoy horror movies as much, then my blog will only reach a limited amount of individuals.

SLO C:

Lastly, I wanted to reflect on one of the most important SLO’s which was SLO C. Writing as a Process. I want to focus this reflection mainly on the prewriting because all of the knowledge and the research was there but not the format of how I truly wanted this assignment to be. The hardest part was putting all of the information into words because I wanted to use other horror movies as well and not just one in specific. To begin, I had to go through a lot of drafts and a lot of meetings with my teacher to actually understand the assignment. From there I kicked off my assignment by watching the latest Scream movie which allowed me to create these thoughts and all of this information into words. Not only did the meetings help give me confidence but also the peer edits that I read helped me feel like I was in the right position because I received a tremendous amount of positive feedback. Overall, I believe I can earn an A in this assignment because of how much enjoyment and effort I had when creating my review. The enjoyment was thinking about fall and the fun times I had with friends which sparked my brain with passion and pleasure.

REFLETION

Overall, I had a lot of fun with this project because I am a huge horror fan. My favorite memories are usually always from going to pumpkin patches, watching scary movies with friends, and doing scary things that bring me excitement. I believe that nothing can beat a scary movie with friends or a significant other. When horror arrives, so does fall and since summer is ending, this is like the beginning of being in the spirit. It sparks your joy for Christmas, Thanksgiving, and more. My passion for horror movies like Scream or Halloween grew because I analyzed a lot of the old production which had unique casting and the cinematography. I burst with joy on the inside when I watch a scary movie. It just puts me in a very different mood that I can’t explain. By far, this has been one of my favorite projects to do considering my bad reputation with English. I struggled with learning the basics on how to create a thesis, a hook, using metaphors, similes, and so much more that it limited my writing. Now as I have been in these college courses, I feel as if I have a great deal of freedom when I write.
