I was really skeptical when I decided to choose the research topic of why traveling is important for one's mental health because in my head, I thought traveling is super expensive and hard to commit to when you have work, school, and other activities. Eventually I started doing research and found more compelling ideas and that is what led me to enjoy this process of writing this research paper. I ended up finding it easy to talk about the benefits and the cons of traveling so overall, this project went really well for me. One thing that I was proud of when doing the project was being able to find the facts that were necessary to complete each paragraph and being able to work with others to finalize my essay. It is just pleasing to hear when others peer edit my work and they tell me I can add this or delete that to help me complete the assignment.

I used SLO A to my advantage as I wanted the audience to understand the importance of self-investment which can lead to the improvement of mental health. This piece of writing will allow others to think critically about what their life is truly about and how they can improve it by making the right decisions. By simply deciding to travel, one can learn within themselves as they come to a greater and deeper meaning with one's own mind. The evidence and claims I tried to incorporate was sought out to be informative so the audience can have a sense of understanding and persuasion. That is why in this essay, I incorporated more than two citations that are for my argument. The genre of reflection that was used was blogs and news article posts that had factual information as well as personal experiences. All in all, I wanted to use forms of genre that were trusted.

The level of audience that was targeted was the national level. I state this because most students or newly graduates develop a confusion in their mind for what's next in thier life. So, what my paper indicates is a new idea that they can understand and relate towards. When It came time to write my paper, I first began brainstorming ideas by simply using personal knowledge of how I did things when I travel. I also walk around and talk to people and that truly inspires me to think of things to write in my essays which has always been really helpful. I take out my phone and insert those ideas in a document so that when I dive deeper into my assignment, I can use those ideas and expand on them. Once I finish my writing process, it is either complete or semi-complete and that is when I begin to use my peers and other sources to proofread my work in hopes that they can help expand my thinking process.

The way that I found my four sources was to look up sentences that had key words which paired up with “traveling” in a sentence. For example, I would search things such as mental health benefits for traveling and I would also look at the psychological aspect as to why it is so beneficial. For the contrasting paragraph, the research process was different because instead of using keywords, I had to think about why many people don't do it. And the truth of the matter was that travel can be very expensive and so I looked into what causes things to be expensive and that was inflation. Although, as we are young, we tend to overlook the various possibilities of doing what we think is so impossible. When doing research I had to communicate my knowledge and show that traveling becomes affordable with others. Also, traveling doesn't have to be fancy hotels and large meals, it all just depends on the interest of the person.
