The journey to Indonesia was an adventure of its own, filled with anticipation, preparation, and a mix of excitement and anxiety. The process began with weeks of diligently preparing our paperwork, a task that tested our patience and attention to detail. Every step brought us closer to the reality of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
After completing the necessary preparations, we traveled to Manila, where we stayed for two days and one night. The city buzzed with energy, and amidst it all, we were filled with nervous anticipation for the journey ahead. Finally, the day arrived when we headed to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). As we entered the airport, our hearts were throbbing hard with anxiety and excitement. It was our first time boarding an international flight, and the gravity of the moment was not lost on us.
The journey itself was a whirlwind of new experiences. We had a small layover in Singapore, a brief but fascinating glimpse into a country renowned for its modernity and efficiency. From there, we continued to Surabaya, navigating the intricacies of international travel with equal parts curiosity and caution. Finally, we boarded our flight to Banjarmasin Syamsudin Noor Airport, each mile bringing us closer to our destination.
When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and transported to Handil Bakti, Alalak, Barito Kuala, South Kalimantan where we settled into the shelter provided for us, a place that would become our home away from home for the duration of our program. Exhausted yet exhilarated, we unpacked our bags and began to embrace the reality of this incredible adventure. This initial leg of the journey was more than just travel; it was the start of a transformative chapter that we were eager to dive into.
