SMA Negeri 1 Alalak, established on July 1, 2002, is a public senior high school located at JL. Brigjen H. Hasan Basri KM.11, Handil Bakti, Kecamatan Alalak, Kabupaten Barito Kuala, South Kalimantan. The school operates under the jurisdiction of the local government and is led by Principal Rasyidi, with Hendra Wijaya serving as the school's operator.

This curriculum is designed to accommodate diverse student needs, focusing on personalized learning paths and fostering character-building alongside academic development. It emphasizes project-based learning and interdisciplinary approaches, preparing students to think critically and creatively.
The school is well-equipped with twenty (20) classrooms and five (5) laboratories, which support hands-on learning and practical experimentation in areas such as physics, chemistry, biology, and computer science. Additionally, the library serves as a vital resource for students, offering access to an extensive collection of books, journals, and digital materials that encourage self-directed learning and research.
Technological integration plays a significant role in the instructional support system at SMA Negeri 1 Alalak. During my observation of the teaching system at SMA Negeri 1 Alalak, I noticed an interesting blend of instructional approaches. While the school has adopted the Merdeka Curriculum, which encourages flexibility and student-centered learning, the overall teaching environment still leans predominantly towards teacher-centered methods, with occasional integration of student-centered strategies. This balance reveals both strengths and areas for growth in their educational practices.
