I design, CAD, prototype, and test hardware. Projects below, resume to the right.
During the second semester of my sophomore year, I was tasked with designing a shipping container house. This house was to be designed around a 40' x 8' x 8' shipping container and had to fulfill a variety of constraints, such as being eco-friendly and weatherproof.
I chose to design my shipping container home to be placed in an extremely isolated mountainous region of Colorado, specifically on Hopes Pass, near the continental divide. I choose this location because I love to take trips to Colorado, along with this location being a very beautiful and intriguing place in general.
When I first started designing the model, I had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted it to come out looking like. As can be expected, however, my final model ended up very different than my original ideas. These screenshots you see to the right are some of my first basic models of the container home.
My final container home SketchUp model exceeded all of my expectations. It ended up accomplishing my goal perfectly and I am very proud of it. Most of the outlines were designed by me, while most smaller, more intricate details, such as the kitchen appliances and desk, were sourced from SketchUp's online warehouse.
I rendered out my model with a combination of Lumion and VRay and it ended up looking amazing. It was my first time rendering any model and I think it turned out good for my first go. To view my renders more efficiently, you can view this google drive folder.
