During the summers 2019-2021, I had the opportunity to be a camp counselor at Perinton Recreation summer camp located in Rochester, NY. My experience as a summer camp counselor was amazing because I felt like a role model in the lives of the children that attended the camp. The ages of the children attending the summer program ranged in age from 5-13. My main responsibility was for the children in the 5-7 age range.
I enjoyed my time as a summer camp counselor as the children brightened up my day with how much energy they had, and all the excitement they carried!
As a summer camp counselor I was responsible for facilitating and supervising games and arts and crafts while providing a safe, comfortable environment, and promoting positive play. Additional responsibilities included supervising and monitoring the children on weekly field trips. Field trips included visits to the Perinton Aquatic Center to swim, trips to the local bowling alley and a trip to Rochester's Frontier Field to watch a Red Wings baseball game.
