I had the opportunity to complete 20 hours of observation at Hutchings Psychiatric Center in Syracuse, NY. Here is a look into some of the things I did while at Hutchings!
hutchings-crisis-respite-brochure.pdfI observed at Hutchings Psychiatric Center for three days. During my first day I spent my observation hours in the Adult Outpatient building. During this time, I observed a baking class, and attended a CPR certification for a recreation professional.
On my second day at Hutchings, I observed in the Adult Outpatient building again. On this day, I observed a mental health and wellness group. I also met the Art therapist, and participated in craft-making for the holidays. In addition I had the opportunity to participate in an hour long yoga class with some of the adults in the outpatient unit.
On my third day at Hutchings I observed in the Child & Adolescent Crisis Respite House. This experience was incredible. My observation hours included reading charts, observing an intervention, and touring the inpatient unit.
