As you can see in this clip; PRESENTATION MATTERS! Being unprofessional, ill-prepared, or even not wearing the right outfit during your PowerPoint presentation can make you look silly despite the information that follows! Skip out on the tassels and the Candlebox during your PowerPoint presentations & be a trustworthy source of information.
If this video of me presenting my presentation does not work, SEE BELOW for the full presentation.
What Is This?
This project is a presentation describing an emerging technology of choice.
The project was designed to show-off our capabilities within PowerPoint, our presentation skills, and lastly our ability to present a PowerPoint through digital means.
I learned in this project to utilize OBSStudio - a software designed to make video through computing possible - utilize PowerPoint more effectively, and to present within a given time frame to retain viewer attention.
What Did I Choose & Why?
I chose 4DX films because I wanted to not only learn more about this technology, but I love movies and have wanted to see a 4DX viewing myself.
However, this technology as stated - is still emerging - and needs to have more viewers to grow within filmmaking.
I hope presentations and reviews of 4DX movies grow so that way there are more local screenings and theaters that have the capability to view 4DX screenings.
One Interesting Thing Learned?
I learned that 4DX movies are tethered to theme parks such as DisneyLand, DisneyWorld, and even Universal Studios.
Rides within these theme parks have been able to enable companies such as CJPlex to make movies with theme park features to drive the viewer experience while watching some of our favorite films.
I learned to better utilize the existing Microsoft technology already at our fingertips. That the software given within the digital space is often to create work and transfer our information into a work that also transfers information through Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and even an offshoot software program such as OBS Studio. We utilize this software to produce quality work so that others on the digital space are educated, entertained, and to influence others within a digital space. As Ms. Noone stated previously (and I am for sure paraphrasing),
"The internet is a tool for you to create"
Therefore, I learned to better understand the tools given to us digitally to be a better presenter, a better researcher of information utilizing tools such as Google Scholar, and that working with others digitally is possible and helpful.
Conclusion?
Lastly, I learned that the internet is able to connect us all and through this stated internet, the more we are able to influence to internet to do our bidding, the more we are able to create meaningful works that influence society on a macro or micro scale.
My Microsoft Word document on the digital divide & background pertaining to Cuba:
What Is The Project:
This project aims to help students better understand the concept of digital divide and how it pertains to our world living in The United States especially.
This project also helped us better utilize all of Microsoft Words features and PowerPoints features.
Features such as headings, editor, cover pages, page breaks, and page numbers allowed for easy utility while using Word.
Features such as design, embedding, copy & paste, and slide layout helped layout the presentation much easier in PowerPoint.
Locations Chosen:
Cuba for myself
Nepal for Tripti
One Interesting Fact I Learned:
One interesting fact I learned while conducting my research pertaining to the digital divide within Cuba was that Cuba only recently got internet within the last decade. That before this past decade, Cuba only was given internet through shady phones, applications through flash drives, and word-of-mouth ways to obtain simplified computers that can only do few things our computers in America can do.
Tripti Shrestha and I's PowerPoint on the digital divide between Cuba and Nepal:
And thennnnnn....
This is a good example of how digital divides can impact all of us in the digital space. While not a perfect analogy, language barriers reflect the digital divide similarly. If you just recieved the internet - as did many Cubans in the past decade - you may not operate the same way Americans or many other 1st world countries interact within the internet. Similarly, many of those people in 1st world countries may interact with those fresh to the internet in a hostile manner as well.
Understanding the digital divide, how others get access to the internet, how other percieve the internet, and lastly how we all have different tools within internet use, can help us all interact with each other in a more friendly manner when surfing the web.
The lessons I learned while doing this project are that working digitally with partners is not a terrible way to work with others, how to manage group work digitally in a better fashion, how to do conduct conducive research, and lastly how to utilize software to present and create work to influence others.
At first I was terrified of this project and even reached out to Ms. Noone to obtain clarification on how to do this project in an easier means. I feared that groupwork - especially in a digital space - would inhibit me from finishing my work in a timely manner; however, I was wrong. I posted to the message board a simple message with my personal email in hopes that someone would reach out to me in a timely manner. Luckily, Tripti reached out to my personal email, we exchanged phone numbers and were able to complete the project within two days of talking via text message. I learned that working digitally is a skill reflected by communication skills and digital literacy; that fear of this project is only a fear of the digital space.
Lastly, I learned that utilizing and understanding the features of Word and PowerPoint help the user create work that is meaningful and can influence others through expansive research. That when you take time to research topics, utilize Google Scholar, utilize the CCBC library for their expansive databases, and finally use the tools given to you by said software, you can easily create works that others find intriguing, interesting, entertaining and educational.
This is the entire purpose of the internet.
To utilize information technologies to entertain, educate, and influence others - or yourself - in the digital space. We must remember that the internet is more than just Netflix, YouTube, and Twitter and that the people that designed the internet had a bigger purpose in mind when crafting it.
