Traditional Watercolours

I create traditional watercolour paintings using similar tools, materials and techniques as the early watercolour masters. I specialise in painting small format, original, timeless, atmospheric landscapes inspired by the woodland, trees, brooks and streams around Enfield and Edmonton in North London where I live. Whitewebbs, Hilly Fields, Forty Hill, Turkey Brook and Salmon's Brook, provides year round inspiration for the artist.

My work is in international collections where I have earned a reputation for producing high quality fine art in the tradition of the English School of Watercolour Painting.

The outstanding watercolour master J.M.W. Turner, was the visionary giant who fired my passion in watercolour painting and art at an early age. For a fascinating read about Turner and the most in-depth description of his working methods I've seen, then please read Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775-1851) in Bruce MacEvoy's outstanding, encyclopaedic watercolour website Handprint.

I will add new paintings here as I paint them. They will generally be small format 7 x 5 inches on 140lb Paper unless stated otherwise. I'm not sure if I'll give them all names but I may add the database catalogue number just in case you want to request something similar.

I often list paintings for sale on ebay at ridiculous prices. If you fancy your chances of obtaining a genuine, watercolour, original painted by me, then this link will take you to my ebay listings if you are using a PC, but only to a general ebay search page on other devices. (it's an Android glitch). You'll need to search for items for sale by seller "johnsalmonwatercolours".

Lisa Takahashi of Jacksons Art asked me as a watercolour artist, to write a review of the year at the end of 2013. You can read it and see some of my paintings here. I think it's quite interesting.
