A few of the lesson plans that I've created and taught :)
In this lesson, students learn to create the essential instrumental components of a contemporary pop song (drum groove, harmonic progression, bass line) using a browser-based drum machine and DAW. This fifty-minute lesson was taught to 8th graders at a public school in Lowell, MA.
For my Honors-by-Contract work, I analyzed Bedroom Pop songs and put together a two-hour presentation/lesson teaching my classmates to start creating Bedroom Pop. My lesson included a number of a number of audio samples (created by myself) that my classmates combined and rearranged to create their own 'verse' and 'chorus' of a Bedroom Pop song.
This is my final lesson in our Modern Band unit. I was required to put together a twenty-minute lesson focused on teaching original songwriting and composition. Over the course of the lesson, my class composed a chorus/refrain - complete with a chord progression, drum groove, and a melody using "Green Eggs and Ham," by Dr. Seuss as the text.
