This letter was written to Dr.Kiang during his professional stay at McGill University. When this letter was written, Dr.Kiang was already known for his educational engagement with the Chinese youth.
Wangpeiwei wrote extensively about Kiang Kang Hu:
In the early years of the 20th century, Kiang Kanghu went to Japan to study. He exchanged views with early Japanese socialists such as Sen Katayama (片山潛) and Kōtoku Shūsui(幸德秋水), and was deeply influenced by the socialist thinking and movements in Japan at that time. (pp.8)
During his stay in Japan, Jiang put forward a series of ideas for educational reform, women's liberation and social change, and he went back to China and founded three Girls' schools(女學傳習所) in Beijing. (pp.18)
Dr.Kiang was also one of the pioneers in China who sought to link the Chinese women's liberation movement with the movement for equality of education between men and women. (pp21-23)
In unfound pages]
Although we have never met you in person, your illustrious name has been lingering in our minds for quite long time. This is certainly because you are a man of value. It is natural to admire you.
However, we are not wise enough to have the audacity to write to you this time from admiration without your consent, so I am sorry.
We're looking forward to your reply! Mr. Jiang! You are the director of the Chinese Study department, and we are convinced that you are well acquainted with the formalities for the admission of Chinese young people to the Chinese Academy. And we are convinced that you are very enthusiastic about helping young Chinese to enroll.
Finally, our motive for writing is to go abroad to study. Therefore, the place where we would like Mr. Jiang to reply is also in the Morning Post News.
