For this action research project, I plan to find a diverse school population to work with. I think it would be beneficial to work with a heterogeneous school population because I will be provided with a wide range of candidates when choosing my focus students. Student characteristics, such as gender and SES, appear to impact the development of teachers' expectations of students' technological capabilities (Blackwell et al., 2014; Hedlin & Gunnarson, 2014). Working with a racially, ethnically, linguistically, and academically diverse population will allow me to further analyze my pre-test and post-test data to see if other student characteristics (such as race, ethnicity, linguistic background, academic achievement, ability, etc.) are correlated with teachers' expectations. I may also be able to replicate past studies to see if my data confirm their findings, thus contributing to the overall relevance of this topic. The wealth of data provided by this diverse setting could help me expand this current action research project or provide me with opportunities to design other studies using this same collection of data.
