Honors Portfolio

Introduction

My name is Jennifer Ness.  I am a senior at Minot State University.  I will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in Honors.  I plan on going back to university to earn a Museums Studies degree.  Once I am done with my education, I plan on working in a museum.  As a child I have always loved going to museums and visitor centers to learn history of places and people.  That love has followed me throughout my life, and I decided I wanted to make it my career.

The Honors Program has helped me to become better connected with the Minot community.  I am from Mandan, North Dakota, and when I started college, I didn’t consider myself to be apart of Minot.  I thought that I would get my degree and go on to the next part of my life.  Honors has a large focus on community.  Those classes helped me feel that I am a member of the Minot community and not just an outsider.

This portfolio will go into detail about the four goals of the Honors Program that I have achieved: critical thinking, community awareness and involvement, communication, and cultural diversity.  I will prove how I achieved these goals by using artifacts for each one.   This portfolio is a thoughtful reminiscence of my journey through the Honors Program and its courses.
