Overview
The client is a fictional mid-sized company who reached out to me for help improving their employee's time management skills. KJR & Associates recognized a critical need to enhance operational efficiency, reduce turnaround times, and maintain high accuracy in background checks. The company sought to address these challenges by empowering its staff with effective time management strategies. This initiative aims to not only optimize day-to-day operations but also enable employees to adapt to new technologies and handle fluctuations in workloads more efficiently.
To address these objectives, I designed a concise 15-minute instructor-led training session. Led by floor supervisors, the training focuses on practical strategies such as time blocking, the Pomodoro Technique, and digital detox. These strategies are intended to help employees navigate time-intensive tasks and workload variations, ultimately boosting productivity and work-life balance.
Process
Creating the course involved a systematic and comprehensive step-by-step process. I conducted a Training Needs Analysis to identify key performance indicators and objectives aligned with the company's goals, delving into employee performance data and assessing the need for time management skills through surveys and discussions. Engaging with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) provided valuable insights into current challenges and successful strategies. Using this input, a learner persona was developed, capturing the profile of the entire staff.
With a clear understanding of the audience and objectives, I proceeded to craft an outline for the course, structuring content to cover prioritization, workflow optimization, time boundaries, and focused work blocks. A script was then written, ensuring clarity, engagement, and alignment with learning objectives.
The next steps involved creating visually appealing slides, a facilitator guide with instructions for the training session, and a participant workbook for note-taking and goal setting. To assess learning, an end-of-course assessment was developed, testing participants on the three time management techniques and the motivation behind boundary setting. Additionally, an end-of-course survey was crafted to gather participant feedback on the training's effectiveness, relevance, and engagement.
The course was rolled out with a promotion strategy that included changing computer backgrounds to feature reminders on avoiding time wasters. The training was facilitated by floor supervisors. Post-training, assessments and surveys were administered to gauge participant understanding and gather feedback on the training's effectiveness. Ongoing evaluation involved monitoring key performance indicators related to work output, turnaround time, accuracy, and client complaints.
This iterative process allows for continuous improvement, with feedback, assessment results, and post-training data informing updates to address evolving organizational needs.
