School: Woodward Parkway Elementary School, & Howitt Middle School Farmingdale, NY
Role: ENL Teacher
This school year, I had the opportunity to work as a 0.8 Elementary ELA and Middle School Social Studies ENL Teacher. My role has been to support students in their learning by adapting, modifying, and collaborating with classroom teachers to implement English language supports for students at all proficiency levels. While working in the elementary setting, I push into the classrooms and work in small groups. This targeted instruction allows for students to work on their personal goals, while ensuring they receive and understand the content. In the middle school, I collaborate with my co teachers to plan effective lessons to ensure content understanding and language acquisition. Students receive modified instruction and with lessons personalized to meet their individual goals. This modifications may include, sentence frames, visual cues, shortened assessments. In both settings, my goal is to develop engaging lessons by using multiple means of modalities so that students are set up for success.
School: Northside Elementary School, Farmingdale, NY
Role: Reading Intervention Teacher
In 2022, I continued to work in Farmingdale, as a Project Read teacher; in Kindergarten! This program provides data-driven, targeted, small-group instruction for students performing below grade-level. During this experience I worked along side some wonderful teachers, where I scaffolded lessons based on students levels to help meet their needs. I incorporate Heggerty, is a phonemic awareness curriculum that provides students with consistent and repeated instruction. It is essential that during a lesson, students are highly engaged and interested in what they are learning. My students love when our activities involve something that is hands on. Since I work with kindergarteners, these materials may include play dough, pop-its, dry erase boards, or something as simple as picture cards. I value my students interest and if possible, I like to incorporate it into my classroom to keep them excited to learn.

School: Saltzman East Memorial School, Farmingdale, NY
Role: Reading Intervention Teacher
In 2021, I continued to work in Farmingdale as a First Grade Project Read teacher. Project Read Is a part of the districts Response to Intervention Plan. The program monitors students who need additional support, through Intensive, small group instruction. This program has allowed me to grow as an educator, and focus on one area of the classroom. I was able to participate in an Action Research Project, where my colleagues and I monitored student growth that focused on Multisensory Sight Words. Students were engaged In hands on activities, such as, building sight words with Playdoh, writing them In shaving cream, or stamping them out, to help build their automaticity. This project was very successful. Through scaffolded and data - driven literacy instruction, I have seen tremendous growth amongst my students. I found this program to be so rewarding and a great learning experience.

Role: ENL Teacher
Over the summer, I had the pleasure to teach ENL students in the Farmingdale School District. The purpose of the summer literacy camp was to engage students in reading, math, learning, physical activity, science, and technology, through the use of collaboration. The goal was to keep students engaged in meaningful learning, in a fun and relaxed atmosphere in order to prevent summer slide. Students participated in independent and small group guided reading instruction, number talks, and STEAM activities. Throughout the program, I worked closely with the classroom teacher, as the ENL teacher to create and implement meaningful activities for our students. I also helped develop a curriculum to help students continue to gain confidence in their English language. I saw great success among my students; including moving reading levels.

School: Woodward Parkway Elementary School, Farmingdale, NY
Role: Remote Classroom Teacher
My experience as a Third Grade Remote Teacher has given me the opportunity to work with a diverse group of students. Through differentiated instruction, I have seen great success among my students. By getting to know my students' individual needs, I was able to appropriately modify and adapt a curriculum to fit a virtual setting in order to meet the New York State Standards, while providing meaningful and purposeful feedback to my students. This year has proven that the student-teacher relationship, as well as the teacher-parent relationship, is essential to a successful classroom. Creating a safe and nurturing environment within the classroom that includes an open line of communication between the child and their parents builds trust. As an educator, I find that it is my number one priority to get to know each individual student’s needs so that they can truly benefit from instruction. My goal is to know the whole student, so I may meet their educational needs, and help them see their capabilities.
January 2018 - June 2020
School: Smith Street School, Uniondale, NY
Soon after graduation, I began subbing for the Uniondale School District. While here, I instructed students from grades K-5, implementing lessons provided by the teachers. If necessary, I collaborated with teachers on grade level, if lessons were not provided, as well as, assisted in push-in and pull out services with ENL, ELL and students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom.
School: New Visions School of Exploration and Discovery, Freeport, NY
During my graduate year, I was fortunate enough to student teach in the Freeport School District. While there I planned and implemented instructional lessons for both third and fourth grade. Throughout my experience, I shadowed other grade levels as well as co-taught in an inclusion classroom. I worked with school specialist and behaviorist, to help me better understand my students. This allowed me to better differentiate my lessons. From these lessons, I was able to include informal and formal assessments; this included, exit tickets, verbal responses, quizzes.
