Virtual Fieldtrips

Virtual Fieldtrips

Two Virtual Fieldtrips gathering scientifc work carried out by the Group of Dynamics of the Lithosphere (GDL) are currently shown: the Zagros Fold and Thrust Belt in Iran and Iraq and Central High Atlas in Morocco.

These Virtual trips are based on grouping the different papers in single downloadable Google Earth kmz files including field photos, maps, cross-sections and more...

Zagros Foreland Timing (Magnetostratigraphy) 🌍

One of the main objectives of our work in the Zagros Fold Belt was to date the syntectonic deposits that were undeated. In 2004 we published our first study located in the Changule growth syncline along the Iran-Iraq border in Lurestan.

Since then, a total of 8 growth strata localitites were analyzed in 6 papers acorss the Lurestan, Dezful and Fars domains:

One of the main objectives of our work in the Central high Atlas in Morocco was to decipher the widespread distribution of salt-related structures defined by a netwrok of salt walls and salt welds. Up to now, our contribution is of 6 published papers and one in preparation about a regional transect to define the extensional rift structure and of its tectonic inversion.
