JA Take Stock in Your Future introduces students to the stock market. This program may include two components: a classroom curriculum, and for many participants, the JA Stock Market Challenge competition event. The classroom curriculum comprises five sessions that introduce students to basic concepts about how the stock market works and the impact of current events on the stock market. The program also includes multiple self-guided extension activities that engage students in deeper learning about the stock market and investing.
Following participation in the program, students will be able to:
Understand foundational concepts of stocks.
Analyze today's stock market.
Put market knowledge and skills into practice.
Understand the benefits and challenges of investing in the stock market as part of a broader, long-term investment strategy.
Examine the risks and rewards of trading.
Ready to begin your JA Take Stock In Your Future program? The program includes five Facilitator-Led sessions and a selection of optional, self directed Extension activities. Completion of Facilitator-Led Sessions 1, 2 and 3 are required to participate in the JA Stock Market Challenge event.
Our Learning Experience flyers below provide a brief description of each session.
JA programs support national and state standards in reading, mathematics, social studies, and work and career readiness. The JA Take Stock In Your Future program helps fulfill some of the State of Connecticut Financial Literacy graduation mandate SB1165. See link below for more information on alignment with national and state standards.
It is essential for JA USA to ensure this program is engaging and effective. To assist with this, we require students to complete a pre- and post-program survey/quiz. The survey and quiz will help you identify how much students' knowledge and attitudes change from the beginning of the program to the end.
We ask that you share the results with your Junior Achievement of Southwest New England Education Manager with any personally identifiable information removed at the completion of your instruction.
Pre-Program: We recommend you provide these to students prior to any instruction
