Through my coursework and work experiences, I've learned how to design jobs so that they are safe and compatible with human psychology. I've also learned how to navigate team and leadership dynamics for best outcomes.
My team and I completed a project in which we examined how work structure, role clarity, and coordination processes affected team effectiveness. Using interviews and survey data, we identified work design challenges and applied team and work design theories to explain their impact on performance. We then developed evidence-based intervention recommendations to improve role clarity and workflow efficiency. This experience strengthened my Work Design competency by enhancing my ability to analyze how the design of work shapes behavior and performance and to translate theory into practical team-level improvements.
In this project, I explored how modern office environments, characterized by sedentary work and constant digital connectivity, can disrupt employee sleep and overall well-being. Drawing on organizational psychology theories, I developed a practical action plan that offers real-world strategies for managers to redesign work in ways that support better sleep. My recommendations include encouraging physical activity during the workday, setting digital boundaries, and training leaders to model healthy sleep habits. This project showcases my ability to translate research into actionable solutions that enhance employee health and organizational performance.
