The WFC app brings users straight to a page filled with links that link users to help they need. I wanted to see how users would feel about this and other related content on the app, so I conducted multiple usability tests to gain data and insights on what others thought of the app.
Next I took that data and synthesized it to showcase the most important factors for the redesign. After synthesizing I turned that same data into a hierarchy diagram so that I could separate the most important factors from the least important.
After that I started creating an Information Architecture to showcase the apps flow, then came sketching and wireframing the design that was created. Things added in the redesign included the following.
Home page
Filtered Resources
Loading animation
New color pallet
After the low fidelity wireframes next came mid and high. All the information in the original app was used in the redesign and the original app didn't have a home page while the redesign does. More colors are used as usability testing participants noted that the original app was “bland”, the redesign features more color and gradients. The redesign also brings a new resources page that filtered the dozens of links into more approachable and appealing styles.
Had the WFC1 app been on further there would be improvements on the “plan” and “Contact” pages. A way for users to contact their advisor, counselor, or worker directly and get a quick response would be implemented on the contact page as its current state isn’t used often. A plan with a tracker for users to reflect progress with housing, shelter, and other resources would be put on the plan page.
