SUMMERTIME BEACH (using a Horizon Line)

For this activity we will be creating a beach using a horizon line to setup your drawing. Since school is almost out and beaches are starting to (safely) open, this will be a time to practice our drawing skills by creating a beach.
Watch the Youtube video "Horizon Line defined - From Goodbye-Art Academy" to learn about what a Horizon Line is.
*hint* A horizon line where the sky meets the land. It's the farthest you can see land go.
DESCRIPTIVE WORD (ADJECTIVES) DRAWING
5/11/2020-5/15/2020
For this week's activity we will be using ADJECTIVES to describe ourselves in our artwork. We will also revisit the Color Wheel to color in our work!
Read through the adjectives above and think of 3 words that you can use to describe yourself. You can use different positive words if they are not on the list above. You will use the 3 words you choose to make your art.
Memorize the color order by using the Color Wheel. This is how you will be required to color in your work. You guys have been using the Color Wheel since Kindergarten so you are PROS at this!!!
STEP 1. Start by drawing wavy/zig-zag/curvy lines to create 3 sections to draw your words.
STEP 2. Write your words BIG in each section. Make sure the top and bottom of your words fill the whole section.
STEP 3. Add colors following the color order of the Color Wheel.
STEP 4. When your art is fully colored you are finished!

SOLAR SYSTEM ART
4/20/2020-4/24/2020
For this week's activity we will be exploring the Solar System!
Watch the Youtube video "The Solar System 3D animation for kids - Educational video" to get familiar with our Solar System and planets.
Explore the NASA Science website above to see the size differences and distances of the planets from each other. You can see a 3D view of the Solar System and also more details about each planet.
INSTRUCTIONS: You will have 3 options for this week's activity. You may choose to do 1 or you may choose to do all 3 if you would like. View the following 3 activities to decide which one(s) you would like to do.
OPTION 1: Draw the Solar System with the Sun and planets in the proper order. Try to make sure the sizes and distances of the planets are close to accurate. Remember, all planets are NOT the same size or color.
OPTION 2: Create your own Solar System with interesting planets, stars, and details that you think would be fun to draw. If you were an astronaut exploring the galaxy what strange planets and things would you like to see?
OPTION 3: If you don't feel like drawing, look around your home and find objects that you can use to build your own 3D model Solar System. Think marbles, bottle caps, fruit, baseballs, etc.
*BONUS: Take a picture of your model Solar System and send it to me ( blam@houstonisd.org ) and I can post it on this website. If you are in 3rd Grade send as many Solar System pictures as you can to Mr. Medina and ONLY Mr. Medina. He loves them.
Again...NOT Ms. Simon, NOT Mrs. Estrada, NOT Mrs. Gallegos....ONLY send Solar System pictures to Mr. Medina.
