You will notice when looking through my reports that I have been able to maintain effective and highly effective throughout my teaching career. However, I am always striving to be the best teacher I can be. I have reflected and improved in various areas throughout the years. Check out some examples below.
For example, one of my goals is to improve students' engage in learning. In my most recent observation, I received effective. Beginning of the year I received on section 3C is developing, but toward the end of the year, I was able to improve and received effective. I was able to demonstrate this because I was able to challenge and support my students based on their individual needs. The activities I was provided were based on their levels. I will continue to seek knowledge about my students to support them better and improve my practice.
Another major goal has been improving upon my assessment in instruction. Assessment is a key element of teaching because it allows me to gain useful information on how to better support my students and improve my teaching methods. Using appropriate assessment strategies and techniques I was able to understand better my students' individual needs.
This assessment rubric allowed my Students to quickly assess themselves in the middle of a lesson. I often used this assessment during ELA and math instruction. After modelling the activity, and sending a student to try the assessment independently, I could then quickly circulate the room and see which students understand clearly and who might need my help. Students on Level 3 need more help than level 1. I usually group the higher-level kids so that they can do peer-to-peer interactions and learn from each other. I found this extremely effective.
Creating an environment of respect and rapport is another area of that I have improved on. I was able to do this in using appropriate strategyies and technique.
Below you will find some samples of my lesson plans throughout the years
This year I am currently teaching Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders. My grade meets frequently to discuss upcoming units. We plan our instructional approach, differentiated lesson material and input the daily lessons as a team. Through collaborative planning, we are able to bounce ideas off one another and create meaningful lessons.
I am a strong believer in using small group instruction. I have my students working with groups or partners often. Through flexible grouping , I am able to differentiate my groups by readiness, interests, needs, etc. I ensure that each group has clear directions and appropriate support so that students can be working successfully in their groups. Uisng Flexible grouping students are able to make more meaningful connections, and promote social skills.
