This section is dedicated to all the learning & growth that my students have achieved.
Here you will find multiple sources of evidence showing my students growth last year. I was able to move one of my students to a least restrictive environment, and he was showing huge growth in rreading skills.
To the left, you can see an example of data tracking that I have used. I kept track of students' reading levels from September to June.
I did use a running record because it provides an opportunity to analyze what happened and plan appropriate instruction. From Running Records, a teacher can have evidence of what the child is able to do and ready to learn. It helps me to measure students' progress, plan for future instruction, and provide a way for students to understand their progress.
In my school, we used the Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System (BAS). I have interpreted this data below and you will see the great strides and growth my students made throughout the 2019-2020 school year.
I did the running record
Based on this data I was able to form guided reading groups. Students were grouped according to their reading levels. The activities for their small group center time were also geared toward an appropriate readiness level.
by the end of the year, my students progressed in their reading levels.
December 2021- june 2022
In order to keep track of data my students are assessed using WebABBLS, which stands for Assessment of basic language and learning skills. WebABBLES was used as a resource for my 6:1:1 population data tracker.
Below you can see my students' WebABBLS data and students' growths from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. I have also added students 'work to show their reading and writing growth from the beginning to the end of the school year.
Below I have attached two of my students Hakim and Shuaibu's WebbABBLES growth chart from year 2021-2022.
Second Webabbles data shows Shuaibu was assessed in October, and his assessment score on section A was 9%. In February, When I assessed Shuaibu, he made huge progress and his score rise to 39%. In June, he showed tremendous progress, and his score was 71%.
To the left, you will see some assessments taken in January 2021 compared to assessment taken in June 2021. When I started January with this class, My assessment shows Hakim only knows 3 letters of the alphabet and he made tremendous progress in identifying letters of the alphabet on June 2022. Student Shuaibu was able to say 5 letters of the alphabet and In June he showed huge progress in reciting letters and identifying them.
The first Assessment on page 1 you will see Hakim's assessments. This student was struggling and was memorizing the alphabet in order, but was not understanding the individual letters. He recognized 3/26 letters. However, his most recent assessment shows he was able to recognize 20/26 letters. This has been a major improvement and her mother and I have been working closely together to achieve this. I provided laminating individual letters at home so that his parents can help him to practice letters and he has been practising these letters at home every day.
Second On page 2, you will see Shuaibu's assessments. When I assess him in January he showed he only memorized the letter but he was not able to identify the letters. When I show him in different order he failed to recognize the letters. . However, In June 2021 assessment he showed tremendous progress In identifying letters. His January Assessment shows he got only 1 he was able to only identify the letters A but rest he failed to identify it. In the next assessment in January, he showed much growth in identifying 5 letters out of 26. Toward the end of June Shuaibu shows huge growth in identifying all letters of the alphabet. Both students show tremendous progress in June in identifying letters of the Alphabet. I am truly so proud of my both students.
To the left, you will see some samples of students' Shuabu's handwriting throughout the year. You will notice the great strides students have made from January to the end of April 2021. This was achieved through daily practice as well as activities to strengthen fine motor skills. Check out the article below that was sent home to the parents of these children to help strengthen their hands at home!
