In June I entered the 100-word microfiction challenge hosted by NYC Midnight.
The 100-word Microfiction Challenge 2020 / 1st Round Story Confirmation was sent to me on May 12th. Now we'll see what the editors think.
Life is a bumble of branches
twisted into a beautiful nest
Storms of lessons rumble
Raining down on our overburdened shoulders
Pressing down like a waffle iron squishing pancake batter
In the end we will stumble
over a delicate, golden waffle &
understand that it's just what we needed
Very early in my life I realized there was no need to fear adventure. In fact, you need to approach life with an adventurous spirit in order to thrive. People have asked why I became a teacher and my honest answer is because it’s never boring. You have to plan with an adventurous spirit in order to not only engage your students, but to enjoy what you’re doing. I love the freedom teaching allows.
I have never liked the old adage “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink.” I didn’t agree with it when I saw myself as the one leading the horse. It wasn’t until I discovered that I was the water did I find it applicable to my life. Students come to me and when they’re ready I’m there. As water I am always available and my support and encouragement are vast. I don’t care how you got to the chair in my classroom, I welcome you and when you’re ready, I will teach you.
Be happy, you can
Permission has been granted
Past wrongs are no more
Each day you emerge
Bring your spirit to others
Joy will surround you
Be free and smile
The threshold stands before you
Make your life happy!
