I have always been a casual writer, who hates grammar. I have attempted blogs before and failed. I guess, I'm a realistic optimist. I enjoy sharing our adventures with friends and family...so i'll continue trying!
I am the mother of a strong willed 14-year old magic doing, extrovert, Max (now Maxx, because I spelled it wrong when he was born).
My husband, Aaron and I have been married for 16 years. He was born and raised in California and we decided to start our family near my home base, in Minnesota.
We have two adopted fur babies. Finn (4 years old) came to us from Georgia and Poe (8 years old) came to us from Mississippi. We love the Animal Humane Society!

This New Year's Eve when Maxx and I were reviewing the year and setting goals for what was to come. We made lists of what we'd like to do; a sort of "bucket list" for 2019. We each selected a theme for our lists. I chose "appreciate". This quote really made a lot of sense to me "Learn to appreciate what you have before time makes you appreciate what you had."

I'm currently in the phase of parenting where I am caught between: "How did my child get this old?" and "Where are we supposed to be right now and do you have clean pants?!?" I am sure this is a common place for most parents to find themselves.
Our goals and list discussion lead to many "AHA" moments for me, but the biggest was to just appreciate what we're able to do, what we have done and just APPRECIATE LIFE!
The definition of respite is:
a short period of rest or relief from something difficult or unpleasant.
Aaron, Maxx and I decided to open our home to two teenagers to provide respite care.
This was a family decision, of course! After we processed all of our paperwork and got the go ahead we felt excitement, so we knew it was right.
It's funny because Maxx always asked for an older sibling, now he gets to experience life with two! We've now got an 11, 13 and 15 year old in the house on our respite days!
