When designing Dracula, I took inspiration from both late medieval and modern gothic style clothing, I wanted to create an elaborate and imposing character who embodied gothic fantasy. I ended up looking at armour as the character in the book mentions how he used to be a powerful warlord so I thought it would be a nod to that aspect of Dracula. As well as this I embellished the armour with dragon designs as the name Dracula is often thought to mean dragon. I knew the design would have intricate embroidery, slashed sleeves and gold elements as I wanted it to show his status as a mighty count and ruler.
