Applied Econometrics

Course Overview

Econ 3160 is an introductory applied econometrics course. This course focuses on "doing" econometrics, balancing theory and application. Students will use R to perform econometric analysis and complete a semester-long empirical project. The project requires students to use the Tier 4.0 protocol for reproducibility and they are required to do a conference-style presentation and defense of their research project. Core topics include data wrangling & cleaning, linear regression, panel data methods, instrumental variables, identification in econometric writing, and various workshops on writing norms in economics.
