In the Spring of 2026 I took Game Design 3 and did more Roll-A-Ball! Since I have taken Graphics and Modeling in my Sophomore year, I wanted to upgrade my old Ball Game but then I decided to that it would be to hard to replace all the shapes with models from Blender and Plus my old Game has that classic look to it, so restarted from scratch. Also for this project I had AI assist me (Google Gemini and ChatGPT) in writing the Code so don't think of me as an expert. Here are some of the best highlights and the big things that make my game possible with short descriptions and a picture of it in the game. You can go to the Roll-A-Ball Games Tab to go to the itch sites where you can play it in the Browser or Download it for Windows or Mac OS. Please note that the School has Blocked Itch and you will need a personal Non-School Account to Download it or play it in the browser.
Bob's Island
Before I started making my Game in unity I wanted to use my G&M Skills to make a island from Blender because I did not want to use the Boring Cubes and Spheres to spend hours on end making and island that I found not Satisfactory so I took this picture at a pickle ball court and then I asked AI to Make a Blacked map of the Island. I then went into blender a added a plane and subdivided it 5 or 6 times (the more subdivisions, the better quality) I then made the plane the same aspect ratio as the image and then added the image into the texture (more about that in the video in the links page) and raised the Black parts up to make the Island. Here is refrence image of Bobs Island and the Completed Version of the island in the game with the map.
Bob's
For the Character named Bob wanted something that was not just a boring sphere from unity, so I used my great blender skills to make 9 bobs that you can actually use money to buy them! just click the arrows to see all of the bobs! The nine Bobs are as followed, King Bob, Playful Bob, Pirate Bob, Angry Bob, Normal Bob, Red Bob, Cowboy Bob, Golden Bob, and Windows 7 Bob. ( I made Windows 7 Bob because I liked windows 7 the best in the maintenance classes) Each bob is priced diffrently and based on how much money you have you can buy as many as you want.
Food
Because I was making my Roll-A-Ball game to be different from most others, I decided that I should add a stamina system in which you use stamina when you move and jump and to refill you would need to get food items. as with the Bobs you can scroll through the pictures with the arrows on them. In the game you can also get stamina refilled by just not moving and just simply sitting there. Here in the image Carousel we have the Apples, Cactus Fruit, Coconuts, Soup, Milk, and chesse. There is also water drops that you can pick up at the wells in the center of the villages
Anything Spawner
To make my Roll-A-Ball Game more vivid and more world like I wanted to Add srubery and vegetation but I did not want to site hours on end placing and rotating each individual tree. So I asked AI to help me make a script. It works by having a sphere as a visual indicator, then you can add 6 meshes of anything you want, you then tell it how rare or common each one is (eg. 70, 20, 10) then It has a rotation spawn (because Blenders and Unitys XYZs are totally diffrent) . Then I made it into a prefab so I could drag and drop them all over the Island. Here is the Script so you can use it (https://docs.google.com/document/d/10MsNtNLIPUOoI2Ib4K6VrK5tqLD4P8vOQuAGp6Tzt6I/edit?usp=sharing). In the Image Carrousel, you can see it in Building mode and Play mode. Each sphere is where somthing will spawn a mesh randomly and with random rotation.
Vegitation
Because I made the Anything spawner with AI for vegitation (or anything else that I wanted) I needed models of Trees, Rocks, and other vegitation so I could easly drag the spawner from the prefab folder and plop it into the world. So I got to work in Blender to make 6 varitents of trees. There are smaller light greeen ones and larger Dark green ones. For the desert vegitation I used the Low Poly Desert pack from 23 space robots and counting off the unity asset store (which will be found in the "Tutorial Links" Page) but I ploped them into blender and changed the color. I also made grass mushrooms and rocks for the light green areas of the island. Because of these models and the anything spawner I was able to fully vegitate the island to make it more nature like.
The Crystals
Although I had a good island I did not have a point to the game other than an eat or die game. So I made seven Crystals which are pictured here. When Bob collects all of the crystals on the island he gets teleported to the Dome of Treasures where there is an infinite amount of stuff! Because I did not want you to take for ever to find one crystal I made a map which you can look at by pressing M. you can also look at the map in the image carousel of Bob's Island to see where each crystal is located.
The Benchy Boat & Glider
Because 2 of the 7 crystals were on the little islands that are not accessible from the main island I needed a way to get to there so I created a system that uses game objects as points, and the money that you collect to get to the destination that will then take you back to its original place. For the Amethyst crystal I used the 3D printing Benchmark "Benchy" that is normally use to calibrate a 3D printer. I also created a Hang Glider in Blender to get to the Yellow Topaz crystal in which when it returns to the docks, you can hop on a mesa that has lots of money on the return flight! To activate them you need to be on touching them and then Press B to buy one round trip which both costs $20
Money
Because you can get different bobs and ride on a Benchy and Glider me and AI created a Money system in which a prefab has a selected amount (eg 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100) and then hooked up to a Game Object Called Money Manager which then stores all the money you collect and spend. This is then hooked up to a Text that is like Money: then it will display the amount you have collected after the colon.
Lives
Because when Bob touches the water and respawns I added 5 lives to the game. When you touch the water it automatically sees that it is tagged water and will teleport you to one of the locations that I have specified. Afterwards you will see that one of the Heart UI's on the screen will have dissapeared. Because of this you can only jump in the water or run out of stamina 5 times before you losse the game and are teleported back to the main menu. But because i'm nice I made it so you can collect extra lives around the island as Heart Pickups. When this happens it will either give you another life or refill you stamina to 100 percent if you have not lost one.
Info Bubbles
Because the game is a little complicated and I did not feel like making a controls panel I decided that it would be funner if I put info bubbles around the island to help give you information. When you pick up an info bubble It will start Typing text to tell you how to play the game or to explain a part of it. After the text is done typing you it will fade to black and start typing the next one after 2 seconds. After it is done typing all of the text it will disappear unless you pick up another bubble.
Villages
On Bob's Island you can go to the Desert or the Forest and Find villages. These small towns serve as a small stop for breaks and regeneration of stamina. Here you can find natural goods such as Apples, Coconuts and Cactus fruits. You can also find Non-Natural foods like Milk, Cheese, and Soup. There is also a well in the center of each village where you can drink water to refill your stamina. There are also a few hearts at each village to help you regain lost ones so if you have had lost any you can continue with more lives and the more likelihood of completing the game. Villages are not the only place where you can find hearts, you can also find them in hard to reach areas of the lsland that take dedication to reach. a
Dome Of Treasures
The Main Point of Bob's Roll-A-Ball Adventure is to collect all 7 crystals and to make it to the Dome Of Treasures. In the Dome Of Treasures there is infinite amounts of Money and Food and a couple of hearts if you lost any. My original idea for Bob's Roll-A-Ball Adventure is that Bob crashed landed on the Island and the only way to escape was to collect all seven crystals and that would teleport you to the escape plane. But after much thought and consideration I decided that a mystical Dome Of Treasures would be better and fit my game better.
Here is an Image Carousel of Screen Shots of the Game, It can be played in the website and can also be downloaded for Widows and Mac. have fun and enjoy my game!
Here is a Play through of my game from start to Finnish! Please enjoy, it is 34 minutes long.
