Project Overview

For this assignment I had to research and present a form of emerging technology. I chose the Dead Internet Theory because I always thought social media was fake, but I didn't know how to specify it or if it was even a real scientific term for it so I decided to research it.

Project Lesson

During the process of this assignment, I learned that the Dead Internet Theory is a justified movement in society right now because it shows you that almost 99% of social media is being produced by bots and algorithms. But also, the internet isn't just a positive thing or just a negative thing everything has pros and cons, some has more cons than pros but that doesn't mean social media can't be improved over the next upcoming years. This is just a 'right now' setback, but it can turn into an 'overtime' improvement.

Lessons Learned

During this assignment I learned that the Dead Internet Theory is actually a very important aspect of social media in today's society because it helps you better understand the difference between a bot and a human response, encourages you to better evaluate the authenticity of a social media post, and raises awareness to the extent of how much social media content is altered.
