For this assignment I had to explore digital media sites and collect samples of different media from Creative Commons but also credit and cite them correctly.
I found this image by simply scrolling through the home page of the website and it caught my eye.
I downloaded the item provided by Europeana.eu and uploaded it to my website.
This image was shared as a "public domain" on the website, which means that anyone can use the item freely which is another way of saying anyone can save it and use it.
As long as you follow these very strict guidelines:
Creditability: you must give credit, provide a link to the photo, and display if changes were made at any time. But you have to do this task in a delicate and reasonable fashion, but just remember to never in any way indicate or suggests that the content is yours.
Copyrights: You are restricted from using the material for any commercial use.
Below is the credit to the creator with all accurate links.
“The Artist’s Father, Reading a Newspaper” by Albert Engström – 1892 – Nationalmuseum Sweden, Sweden – Public Domain.
This is an audio sample called "Het tikken van een computer." I selected this audio because it reminds me of chaos but also peace and not just because of the title ;).
I downloaded this audio file which is a type of digital media file named a MP3, and I uploaded it to my clipboard so I can embed this file into my website.
This media file was shared under the Netherlands Institiute for Sound and Vision and is available and accessible to everyone.
Below is the credit to the creator with all accurate links.

This is an example of an animated gif from Sketchfab.
An animated gif is an image file that contains different frames of images that are shown in a sequence that stimulates a motion which causes the images to move.
This animated gif was saved from Sketchfab and uploaded to my website by embedding it.
I couldn't find any licensing information or sharing limitations, so I decided to credit and link the original source by using the TASL rule of thumb which stands for Title, Author, Source, and License
Title- Robot Playground
Author- Hadrien59
Source- https://skfb.ly/6QXFq
License- Unknown, FairUse
This is an example of an embedded video.
This video is about digital media and how it's shaped by the tools we use.
I embedded this video from YouTube, which typically gives you an option to embed the code, but there wasn't a usage policy or any form of licensing information.
According to the about page for MediaSmarts:
MediaSmarts is Canada’s not-for-profit centre for digital and media literacy. Its vision is that all Canadians have the critical thinking skills to engage with media as active and informed digital citizens.
In the process of this assignment, I learned so much more than I thought I did before! To begin I learned that there's a lot more to digital media than just videos and pictures. Not to mention I now know the different form of digital media I know how to share them and credit them correctly.
