Background:
Project HORIZON was designed to address the lack of career awareness and digital readiness among students and parents in underserved communities. The project applied research-based design, stakeholder analysis, and human-centered learning frameworks to empower students as career explorers and digital entrepreneurs.
Through technology-enabled learning, career mapping, and parental engagement, the initiative created a replicable model for bridging the school-to-career gap in resource-constrained environments.
Needs Assessment & Data Collection:
Conducted baseline surveys among 170 students and 240 parents to assess awareness of educational pathways and employability skills
Results indicated:
Only 10.8% of students could identify 3 or more career options
76% of parents lacked knowledge about higher education and vocational alternatives
64% of students reported low digital proficiency (measured by familiarity with online tools)
Utilized root-cause analysis and journey mapping to trace disengagement from limited exposure to career possibilities and tech-based opportunities
Stakeholder Mapping
