Artist Statement

As a queer artist born and raised in rural Colorado, I incorporate aspects of my complex identity into my mixed-media pieces. The state of the political climate, my mental health, my physical health, and my past all inspire my artwork. I explore the mediums of collage, jewelry, sewing and fiber, and painting and drawing. I turn my constant, overwhelming thoughts into captivating, colorful, and familiar-feeling images. Inspired by fashion movements, gender, queer culture, and sustainability in the contemporary art world, I create one-of-a-kind pieces. Sometimes wearable, sometimes meant to hang on a wall, my compositions are meant to tell my story or convey a message. 

I grew up interested in art, and was supported by my family and teachers, taking classes since I was young. My mentors have helped me fine-tune my skills and learn new techniques, and I am constantly learning more as I pursue an art degree. 

I will forever be a creator. My hands will constantly be at work. My art is a timeline of my unique journey. My impulse to make comes just as naturally as needing to eat and drink. Creating, sewing, painting, drawing, it helps me process all my experiences- the good and the bad. And I couldn’t live without it.
