Collaborative Initiative between the Conference and the Journal Aerosol Research
— We encourage you to submit your work as a journal paper —
Although many high-quality studies are presented at the Aerosol Science and Technology Conference, these results are not always developed into publications in the society journal Aerosol Research. We believe it is important to reconsider the journal as a platform for academic exchange and to promote the publication of original papers, thereby fostering new ideas and potential collaborations.
Many studies presented at the conference have originality and value that deserve wider dissemination beyond the conference itself.
Therefore, as in the previous year, we invite authors to submit manuscripts based on their conference presentations. If the manuscript is accepted, the publication fee will be waived, making the cost more favorable than for regular submissions. We kindly encourage all members to take advantage of this opportunity and submit their work to Aerosol Research.

Notes for Submission
Submissions must be original papers (research articles, technical papers, review papers, rapid communications, notes, or discussions) that have not been published elsewhere.
For oral presentations, extended presentation time may be allocated upon request to facilitate deeper discussion; however, this cannot be guaranteed due to program constraints.
Templates and required documents for submission can be downloaded from the society website:
https://jaast.jp/?page_id=468/www.jaast.jp/
Manuscripts will be handled in accordance with the submission guidelines of Aerosol Research, except for the following conditions.
If a manuscript is accepted, the publication fee will be waived (color printing charges remain applicable). In addition, fees for converting figures to color in the electronic journal (J-STAGE) (JPY 1,000 per figure) and fees for supplementary materials (JPY 2,000 per file) will also be waived.
Manuscripts are planned to be published in Vol. 42, No. 1 (March 2027) or Vol. 42, No. 2 (June 2027) of the journal; however, the final issue may vary depending on the review process.
As a second phase of this initiative, post-conference recommendations by the editorial board will also be conducted for unpublished studies. This program also includes a waiver of publication fees.
We look forward to receiving a large number of submissions.
The Iinoya Award is presented for outstanding presentations in the Special Session.
This award recognizes innovative and forward-looking contributions to aerosol science, including exploratory research, identification of emerging issues, development of new research areas, and visionary ideas that contribute to the advancement and vitality of the field. Presenters are encouraged to share their ideas in a relaxed and creative spirit.
The Special Session is held in front of all conference participants and includes an extended discussion period. To reduce the burden on presenters and encourage participation, joint presentations and shared Q&A by multiple presenters are allowed.
We warmly encourage you to challenge the Iinoya Award together with your colleagues. Submissions are welcome from researchers at all career stages, from early-career to senior members, including past award recipients.
Eligibility, Evaluation Criteria, and Award:
Eligible presentations are limited to those delivered by society members (regular or student members) in the Special Session.
In addition to the content, evaluation will focus on how effectively the presentation engages the audience within the time limit (5 minutes for presentation, strictly enforced, and 10 minutes for discussion).
Awardees will receive a certificate and a prize of JPY 100,000.
The Best Presentation Award is presented for outstanding presentations in the Early-Career Oral Presentation and Early-Career Poster Presentation categories.
Eligibility, Evaluation Criteria, and Award:
The presenter must be a society member (regular or student member) aged 35 or younger as of April 1 of the current year and must have played a central role in the research or development presented.
Evaluation will focus not only on the completeness of the research but also on the presenter’s depth of understanding, clarity and effectiveness of presentation (slides or posters), responses to questions, and the potential for future development.
Awardees will receive a certificate.
