Determined to continue his grandfather’s legacy as an artist, he took a Diploma in Fine Art at UiTM Lendu, Melaka and currently studying at UiTM Shah Alam, Selangor, in a Bachelor of Fine Art (HONS). AHMAD IZZAN QISTAN BIN KAMARULZAMAN (b.1999, Melaka) has the ambition to be an artist who treasures and continues his grandfather’s talent.


During his diploma around 2018, he had his artwork on an exhibition and awarded Anugerah Jauhari Pameran Arang (Texture of Johor) at Galeri Seni Johor. His second exhibition was his diploma show called “Tekno Alam Warisan”. In his study, he also achieved well and was awarded Anugerah Naib Canselor (2020). After his diploma ended, he actively participated a lot in art competitions such as the annual Art Against Aids Art Competition, UT Heritage Competition, Pertandingan Seni Lukis Kemerdekaan Identiti Negeri, Jiwa Negara by Bank Rakyat, as well as UDA Doodle Competition (2019-2021) while continuing his study to Bachelor (Honours) in Fine Art.


During diploma, Qistan created series of artworks about his appreciation towards his grandfather who was an artist and a policeman. Currently, he is taking time-based media as his specialization and creating works of multi-disciplinary – painting, simple animation, installations and Happenings in which he mostly tackled woman discrimination issues. For personal works, Qistan loves to create comic-like artworks and touches on autobiographical topic, social critics, as well as heroic epic such as Hang Tuah.
