In planning your upcoming CPL portfolio year, consider and record your potential professional learning priorities, interests and needs.
Throughout the last portfolio year, I have learned a deep interest in the role of relationships to support children as learners and how interconnected the role and concept of relationships is to our overall pedagogy.
I recognize that this year I am entering a new role as an OCT Classroom Teacher but I strive to maintain my best practices as a proud RECE while I navigate this new role in a new environment.
I also recognize that this year I have the potential to work with colleagues who may not have a background in Child Development and this may create opportunities for leadership.
Working in the school system, I see that different policies and resources are to be used and I am interested in discovering what resources exist and how they can be used to best support all students inclusively, particularly children with exceptionalities.
I am also interested in how I can develop relationships with families in an environment where I will not have daily contact with caregivers.
What feedback have you received about your professional knowledge and practice? Reflect on feedback from others (e.g., colleagues, supervisors, families, children) about your strengths and areas for growth.
I have confidently lead equity and diversity practices and encouraged educators to reflect on their own bias and bring conversations about anti-Black racism into learning environments with school-age children to promote racial inclusion.
I have been able to create a group where children feel safe to build relationships with adults AND all peers.
I am encouraged to connect with Deep Learning practices offered within the school board to take leadership and connect my philosophies and implementation of pedagogical practice with those of other educators.
How do you learn best? Note the ways you like to learn. For example, reading, discussions, visuals, listening, experiential learning.

Based on your reflections above, identify one topic to prioritize for this year’s CPL Portfolio.
Since I will be focusing on 1 learning topic for my Continuous Professional Learning, I am choosing to focus on the role of relationships in supporting children's development. Particularly, I think it will allow me to look critically at the role of relationships with families and the importance of connecting with families, other educators, and the environment to support children's holistic growth and development.
I have read the Code of Ethics
I have read Standard I (Caring and Responsive Relationships)
I have read Standard II (Curriculum and Pedagogy)
I have read Standard III (Safety, Health and Well-being in the Learning Environment)
I have read Standard IV (Professionalism and Leadership)
I have read Standard V (Professional Boundaries, Dual Relationships and Conflicts of Interest)
I have read Standard V (Confidentiality, Release of Information, Duty to Report)
Identify the Standards of Practice that relate to the learning you want to prioritize for this year’s CPL Portfolio.
I intend to focus on the role of relationships and the importance of relationships with educators, families, and the environment in my continuous professional learning since relationships are foundational to many learning topics related to pedagogical practices. This learning goal relates to standards 1 (Caring and Responsive Relationships) 2 (Curriculum and Pedagogy) and 3 (Safety, Health and Well-being in the Learning Environment). I recognize that I am entering a position where it is not widely known that relationships are foundational to children growth and development and there may be opportunities for leaderships which related to Standard 4 (Professionalism and Leadership) although this is an unfamiliar are to me as I am learning what professionalism looks like working with diverse professionals.
