Microsoft Outlook uses the .pst format, also known as personal storage table, for archiving emails, contacts and calendar events.  

Saving an Email Message from Outlook: PC Users

1. Open the Outlook app

2. Select the messages you want to save.  We recommend creating a folder and move all of the messages you want to save in this specific folder.

3. From the File menu < Choose Open & Export < Click the Import/Export option

4. Select Export to a file < Click the Next button

5. Select the Outlook Data File (.pst) option < Click the Next button

6. Choose the folder that contains the messages you want to export

7. Click the Next button

8. Choose a location, name for the backup file, and other additional options as needed

9. Select the Finish button

10. Your files have been successfully exported

Saving an Email Message from Outlook: Mac Users

To save an Outlook email as a.pst file, you have to use a third-party tool to convert the Outlook for Mac (.olm) file format to a .PST file.

1. Open the Outlook app

2. Select the messages you want to export.  We recommend creating a folder and move all of the messages you want to save in this specific folder.

3. Go to File < Click on Export

4. From the options, select what you want to export and Click Continue

5. Choose a location and name for the file. The file is now being saved as an archive .olm file.

6. Once your data is exported < Click the Finish button

7. Next, you will need to convert the .olm file to a .pst format
