While it began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment, and Design converged, today it is devoted to curiosity, reason, wonder, and the pursuit of knowledge across virtually every discipline. In addition to the famous TED Talks published on TED.com, the organization has expanded into a multitude of worldwide communities and initiatives, including the TED-Ed educational platform, original podcasts, and major initiatives like Countdown (focused on the climate crisis) and the Audacious Project, proving its commitment to activating powerful ideas and making the world more beautiful, sustainable, and just.

TEDx is a grassroots initiative, created in the spirit of TED’s overall mission to research and discover “Ideas Change Everything.” TEDx brings the spirit of TED to local communities around the globe through independently organized events. The 'x' in TEDx stands for "independently organized event," allowing communities worldwide to host their own self-designed conferences that bring together local speakers, performers, and thinkers to share ideas. These events operate under a free license granted by TED, ensuring they adhere to the core principles of sharing, inspiration, and rigorous curation. With more than 3,000 events now held annually, TEDx serves as a vital platform for spreading local ideas with global potential.

TEDx I-Shou University is proud to be the independently organized TED event held annually and dedicated to showcasing the dynamic ideas and innovative spirit of our campus and the surrounding region. Since our inception in 2021, we have been committed to curating a stage for our community, especially to foster students by giving them and school committees a powerful place to spread their unique ideas and perspectives. This event is proudly organized by the International Student Union (ISUISU)'s Academic Affairs Team and the dedicated TEDx committee, with invaluable support from the Office of International Cross-Strait Affairs (OICA). Our goal is to serve as a catalyst for profound conversation and intellectual leadership, translating the global "Ideas Worth Spreading" mission into a powerful local experience right here at I-Shou University.
