Alt Text: Cover page shows a group of people collaborating around computers.

About this course:

This course focuses on using the Technology Integration Matrix (TIM) as a way to teach collaborative learning. The course includes an overview of the TIM Matrix, the different levels of technology integration, examples of collaborative learning at the different levels of technology integration, and an opportunity to create your own collaborative learning lesson while using the transformational level of technology integration.

Objective:

By the end of this PD session (C), teachers (A) will be able to integrate technology daily (B) by facilitating higher-order learning activities in collaborative transformation (D).

What will I learn in this Online PD Module?

Lesson 0 - Introductions on Flip

Duration: 2 minutes

In this lesson, at the bottom of this page, join the discussion on Flip to introduce yourself to the other module participants.

Lesson 1 - What is TIM?

Duration: 10 minutes

In this lesson, you will learn more about the TIM and how this framework can assist teachers in integrating technology tools and developing 21st-century skills by learning about the Technology Integration Matrix.

Lesson 2 - Levels of Technology Integration

Duration: 10 - 15 minutes

This lesson focuses on ways to integrate technology into classroom instruction. In this lesson, you will complete an Ed Puzzle to learn about and show your understanding of the Technology Integration Levels.

Lesson 3 - Collaborative Learning Levels

Duration: 10-15 minutes

In this lesson, you will read and interact with an article about collaborative learning levels in the TIM matrix. You will complete discussion questions within the article through a Chrome Extension called Insert Learning.

Lesson 4 - Lesson Examples

Duration: 15 - 20 minutes

This lesson will allow you to view recordings of example lessons. You will view one lesson for each of the five integration levels and then reflect on your learning in a Mentimeter.

Lesson 5 - Build Your Own Lesson

Duration: 30 - 60 minutes

By this lesson, you will be an expert on collaborative learning. You will use the resources provided to create a transformational collaboration lesson plan outline that you will use with your students.  Once you complete your lesson outline, you will share it on Padlet.

Lesson 6 - Reflection

Duration: 30 minutes

Your final lesson will be a reflection activity. You will create a Thinkglink summarizing your learning from this Online PD Module. Your finished Thinglink will be shared on Padlet.

Format: Self-paced, interactive, asynchronous, online course. Work each lesson at your own pace but still have an opportunity to participate in discussions and activities through Insert Learning, Padlet, Ed Puzzle, Mentimeter, and Thinglink. Before you beging, you may explore the module in any order, but you must complete the lessons in order to maximize your learning.

Schedule: This module is completely self-paced and is open continuously. You will have unlimited time to complete the course. This course should take about 2.5 hours to complete. You will need a computer, camera, microphone, internet access, Google Chrome, and a willingness to sign-up for new websites to interact with the activities planned for the course.

Facilitator: Katie Steinbeck is a grad student in her final semester at CSUF-Fullerton, earning her Master's in Ed Tech. You may email her at Katie.Steinbeck@gmail.com from 8:00 am - 8:00 pm for questions, comments, or concerns about this Online PD Module.
