Description
This infographic, created in Canva, defines and gives examples of qualitative and quantitative data, how teachers can use the data, and how this data can help students.
Implementation
This handout was given to teachers during a PD about data chats. The infographic helps teachers understand the use of qualitative and quantitative data to inform their instruction and professional learning (4.6.b). The PD reviewed ways teachers could collect and analyze student data (4.6.a) and how to incorporate students so they are empowered to set and monitor their own goals (4.6.c).
Impact
This handout helped teachers with ways to collect and analyze student data and ways to interpret qualitative and quantitative data to inform their decisions to support individual students (4.6.b). This handout also gave students suggestions on how to set goals and monitor their progress through rubrics and reflections (4.6.c). Teachers now work with students to share data collected in quantitative and qualitative activities so students are informed of progress, and teachers are using more than just data from testing to make informed decisions about student learning.
I need to strengthen my skills as a coach for data-driven decision-making. This artifact was created and implemented in 2022, but I have yet to revisit it this year. I continue to collect data for my students and help them develop their goals, but I have yet to support educators this year. I plan to talk to my grade level PLC so we can analyze our student data together (4.6.a), work together to interpret the qualitative and quantitative data to inform our decisions (4.6.b), and determine how we will empower our students to use learning data to set their goals and measure their progress (4.6.c). By collaborating with my grade level PLC, I will be able to strengthen my coaching skills and share the artifact with them for this standard, as well as revise and create a new artifact to dig deeper into what the data type is, how teachers can use the data, and how a student can use the data.
