DSN Summit held June 2020 provided 45 sessions by 35 amazing presenters. Many great digital storytelling integration ideas were shared. This presentation will focus on tips and tricks for using the Library of Congress to access Primary and Secondary Resources and follow Copyright rules for documenting resources for cross curricular or integrated curricular digital stories.

Critical thinking, problem solving and decision making are essential when writing and creating digital book trailers, public service announcements and nonfiction narratives. Learn to lead students through the process of writing, directing and producing at the highest level of Bloom's Taxonomy to convince and persuade a specific audience.

"The Power of Imagery in StoryTelling ~ Creating the Essence of Story Through Voice, Image, Music, Sound, and Effects"
Imagery is a key element in StoryTelling done Digitally. Creative use of Voice, Images, Music, Sound, and Effects to showcase the Essence of the Story elevates student thinking to the highest levels of Blooms. Once the Essence of the Story is determined, the storyboard becomes the student director’s guide as they find those "just right" resources to create that mood or tone for their audience. Watch how one poem done 3 ways creates very different digital story outcomes.

"Using Image to Inspire the Essence of Story"
Providing students opportunities to play with the power of image develops critical creative thinking skills. This session will focus on activities like photo stories, 6 word memoirs, and others to help students use image to elevate their ideas and their stories and inspire them to think. Images can change perception, influence thought, and inspire. Learning how to create or use an image to move the audience in a desired direction is a powerful skill.

Learn how students can use the visual clues of comic scenery, coloring and text bubble shapes to infer emotions and contexts. Everyday heroes are often unseen, and after the hurricanes, our town quickly found out there were more heroes than we ever knew. The students wanted to share the "why" and "how" a hero has helped to serve thru Digital Storytelling, comics and posters as a way to promote community service.

"Digital Storytelling with Fairytales across the Curriculum"
Learn how to integrate fairytales into curriculum to incorporate vocabulary and concepts while building storytelling skills. Students can incorporate the required vocabulary into the framework of an existing fairy tale to demonstrate their understanding of terms without the need to focus on creating the elements of story like plot, character, setting from scratch. The results are engaging and fun to read. Attendees will learn the basics of storytelling and storyboarding as they work through the process for their own curriculum.
