Mission
The College Library exist to support the philosophy, vision and mission of the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College and the goals and objectives of the different Colleges, providing excellent library services on behalf of Instruction, research, extension, production and other scholarly activity. To this end the library works closely with the faculty , staff and student of the college to achieve its goal and objectives, specified below.
Goal
Provide the best possible access to relevant information within a suitable environment. In pursuit of this goal, development effort revolve on two major thrusts: 1) development of the library collection focusing on subject areas which support new academic program and new areas or research, and 2) computerization of library resource and services for faster access to the Library's holdings.
Objectives
Develop and maintain appropriate collections of print, non-print, and electronic resources in support of ongoing College functions;
Provide instruction in library and information literacy skills aimed at facilitating research and developing an individual's ability to select, evaluate and use information resources;
Use technology to improve the delivery of programs, services and resources.
Promote library and information services and resources to faculty, students and staff;
Develop and provide facilities that promote effective study and research; ensure appropriate storage, maintenance and preservation of information resources; enhance staff productivity and collaboration; and serve as a community gathering place for the exchange of ideas;
Cooperate with other libraries, museums and historical societies in the province, region, and nation in increasing the availability of resource materials.
Encourage the habit of reading and the use of libraries in order to develop students' potential for self-education and intellectual development for lifelong education;
Administer ongoing analysis, planning and assessment to ensure effectiveness stewardship of library resources and enhance Library's ability to meet its mission and goals.
Baggage Area/counter
This counter is where students deposit their belongings (except wallet, cellular phones, and other personal belongings) upon entering the library.
Circulation Desk
a desk where clients check out and return books.
Reading Area
an area where clients can study/read and do their other school activities.
General Circulation Section
This section houses books written by foreign authors. Materials in this section can be borrowed for an overnight subject to renewal if there is no demand for them by other clients.
Filipiniana
This houses books written by Filipino authors or books published in the Philippines or topics about the Philippines and Filipinos. Materials in this section can be borrowed for an overnight subject to renewal if there is no demand for them by other clients.
Reserved Section
It houses books of great demand in the various courses. They may be read in the reading room only or one hour loan subject to renewal if there is no demand for it by other students.
Reference Section
This section houses books needed to look up when specific information is needed. These include dictionaries, encyclopedias, atlases, handbooks, manuals, and other general reference material.
Materials in this section are for library use only.
Periodical Section
It is where newspapers, magazines, journals, government or school publications are houses. These materials are subject to library use only.
Thesis/Unpublished Book Section
It is where thesis books, action/narrative reports, and other unpublished materials are houses. Materials in this section are for library use only.
Fiction Books
Fiction can be borrowed for one (1) week subject to renewal if there is no demand for it by other clients.
Internet Section
This section is equipped with computers for students and faculty to access and browse online information. This section is for educational purposes only.
