The first individual occurred in 1840 during September somewhere in the Isles, followed by another in 1849 on Tresco, also September. It was over a hundred years before the next in 1952. See graph for occurrences from then which clearly shows the species occurrences increasing through the decades.
A total of 237 birds had visited all islands by the end of 2024, with only two prior to 1950.
