Here's where you can post any information that you'd like regarding the events and activities about your committee.
Joe Lanza and Russ Waldo met on 18 Jan 2010 to discuss Cedar Island beach erosion issues. Some aerial photographs of the island were consulted and depicted the increase in sand build-up on the island's "sandy point" of the northeastern shore (facing Clinton Town Beach). The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (CT DEP) has jurisdiction to the high tide line. The beach erosion of the island's north shore has been a problem for the past 50+ years. The Army Corps of Engineers closed and filled the dardanelles dike in the 1950s when Cedar Island was a true island. Originally, this was done to prevent the inner harbor from shoaling but has caused the north shore of the island to slowly erode over the past 55 years.
