In this module we were working with the idea of developing a prosthetic that will help us interact with animals.
Initially I was working with the idea of trapping insects and observing them with the help of a backpack in which there would be many robotic hands with tools through which I could trap and observe the insects.
I was working with the idea of trapping insects, so I tried showing a prosthetic device in which the ribcage is extending and forming a cage like structure to trap the insects. The venus fly trap inspired the device.
The model is made by coiling wires and making a shape similar to the Venus fly trap. It is a working model and works on the principle of a hinge.
In the final model I was working on a larger scale, continuing the idea of trapping. The framework of the device is done by coiling wire. The prosthetic is a workable model, it has 2 hinges which helps it to open and close. The wire is covered by foam from both the sides and the entire structure is then covered by a red cloth. There are also toothpicks on the front side of the model.
