Environmental monitoring

Around our site boundary, we have installed a series of monitors that are continually capturing site noise, dust and vibration levels. At each monitoring location, there are different monitors that measure noise, dust and vibration levels which when linked to computer software allows us to access real time data.

This computer software helps us manage our emission levels and prompts us into responding and managing levels when they approach our daily limits that have been agreed with Camden London Borough Council. The software also captures sound recordings of high noise events, which we can play back to help us conduct thorough investigations. This in turn helps us to constantly review and improve all our site controls.

Please see our agreed limits below. These are in accordance with our site Construction Management Plan and as set out in our current Section 61 consent. We have designed and implemented a Noise, Dust and Vibration Management Plan following guidance set out in BS5228 to help us manage the impact on site. All our sub-contractors are required to work to this plan.

Baseline monitoring

Prior to the commencement of work, we conducted three months of baseline monitoring using the same set up and locations of monitors which allowed us to understand background levels of noise, dust and vibration. This means we can make comparisons between our current levels and the baseline levels established to understand the impact of construction on the local environment.

Inspection and reporting

Each month, we conduct a thorough site inspection of all our requirements as set out in the Noise, Dust and Vibration Management Plan. We use month end to review noise, dust and vibration impacts and outline any breaches, investigations and improvements that took place. A report is then compiled and reviewed by the project before being submitted to the council.
